03.16.20 Health Check-In

January 2020 loss:  -2.7
February 2020 loss:  -4.6

Total 2019 Weight Loss:  38.3
Total 2020 Weight Loss:    7.3

TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS:       -45.8

Welp.  I think I may be on a plateau.  The good news is that I haven't gained.  The bad news is that I haven't lost.

I've done pretty well.  There's always room for improvement of course.  I know these plateaus happen sometimes.  And I am going to KEEP GOING.  That is the most important thing.

February Reads (9)

Two stars:           eh, it was okay
Three stars:        liked it
Four stars:           really, really liked it
Five stars:            absolutely loved it

1-Star (0)

2-Star (0)

3-Star (7)
***The Slippery Slope, The Grim Grotto, The Penultimate Peril, The End (Fiction, L. Snicket – the last 4 books)
Overall, I enjoyed this series.  These are funny books and I laughed out loud multiple times.  LISTEN TO THEM ON AUDIO.  The audio is fantastic.  (I was too lazy to list them all out individually).  I listened to all 4 of these on my way home from Nebraska.

***As Time Goes By (Fiction, M. Higgins-Clark)
When Mary Higgins-Clark died, I remembered that I read a LOT of her books when I was a teenager and I remembered enjoying them!  So I might start reading some of them again.  They are somewhat light reads, but they’re not bad!  I enjoyed this one on audio.

***All that Remains (Fiction, P. Cornwell)
This one was easy to put down, but it was still good.

***All the Ever Afters (Fiction, D. Teller)
The untold story of Cinderella’s stepmother.  It was okay.  Kind of long.

4-Star (1)
****Thunderhead (Arc of a Scythe #2) (Fiction, N. Shusterman)
Not quite as strong as the first book, but still good.   A little long and slow in the middle but the ending made up for it.

5-Star (1)
*****Golden Rules:  Wit and Wisdom of the Golden Girls
My sister gave me this book and it’s fantastic, especially if you’re a Golden Girls fan.

Total Books Read: 9 (8 Fiction, 1 Non-Fiction)

DNF (3)
The Most Fun We Ever Had (C. Lombardo) – just ick, which is too bad because I think it had potential
The Carnivorous Carnival (L. Snicket #9) – magic, crystal balls, etc.
The Wife (M. Wolitzer) – hated all of the characters

Health Check-In

I have been on the struggle bus the last couple of weeks.  My next weigh in will be Saturday, March 7th.  I put on a couple pounds, so I will be happy to get back to where I was.

I've been trying to figure out WHY I've been struggling.  There are a few mental issues, but I think I've pinned it down and I think it's more of a physical thing actually.

I've been working out a LOT the past 2 weeks.  I've taken 11 Barre classes in the past 14 days.  Which is going to become my new normal.  My goal is 6 classes per week.  But that's another story.

Whenever I work out more, I feel famished a LOT.  Which makes sense.  You need to eat more when you work out more.  But if you don't plan for it....it leads to disaster.  Like Friday.  I went to Barre at 6:00 a.m.  Then I didn't eat much at work the entire day.  So THEN I got home from work and was starving.  I started grazing.  Then husband came home and I asked him if he was hungry and then we decided to order a pizza.  And pasta for me.  Sigh.  And THEN I proceeded to eat my ENTIRE (large) portion of pasta AND the garlic bread that came with it.  I ate WAY past my 'full' feeling.  And then I felt miserable for at least 2 hours afterwards.  Both physically and mentally.

So this weekend, I bought some chicken salad cups from Costco and a big bag of celery.  I washed it, cut it all up and put it right at eye level in the fridge.  That way when I come home from work starving I'll have a go-to.  I'm also going to divide some oatmeal into ziplocks for an after work snack.  After work is my downfall.  I don't have an issue with eating/snacking at work OR eating/snacking late night.  But between 3:30 - 4:30?  I can go to town.  I'm also going to start immediately making some tea when I get home.  I would like that to become a routine.  I also want to stay off my phone from the time I get home until around 7:30 or 8:00.  Because what happens is that I get on my phone, start scrolling/wasting time and then I want a snack to go with it.  Which turns into a meal.  Which turns into 2 hours of total wasted time.

So those are going to be my baby steps so far.  And I AM feeling better today, both mentally and physically.  Onward!

02.22.20 Health Check-In

Loss this week:  -1.2
January 2020 loss:  -2.7
February 2020 loss:  -4.6

Total 2019 Weight Loss:  38.3
Total 2020 Weight Loss:    7.3

TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS:       -45.6

First things first.  I'm changing my weigh-in day to Saturday.  I tend to use most of my weekly points on Friday and Saturday and that usually doesn't lead to a good weigh-in on Sunday.

Secondly....I need to do better.  Yes, I had a decent loss.  And yes, my February numbers are looking better than January.  But I can do better.  I've been more detailed with my tracking, but...I can do better.  I tend to not track the 3 bites of trail mix or the Fiber One treat that I ate at 9:00 p.m. because I was hungry.  Stuff like that.

I also need to drink WAY more water.  I was doing so good with a gallon a day and now it's probably half that.

Oh well.  I'm a work in progress.

Treats I enjoyed this week:

Tacos (twice)
Chips & guac (which I didn't track)
One donut
Wine (2 glasses)

02.16.20 Health Check-In

Loss this week:  +0.6
January 2020 loss:  -2.7
February 2020 loss:  -3.4

Total 2019 Weight Loss:  38.3
Total 2020 Weight Loss:    6.1

TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS:       -44.4

I gained .6 this week.  Which I am completely okay with.  I think my body is still re-hydrating.  I seem to be hanging on to every bit of water I take in.  Plus, I hit Barre as soon as I got back (after a few days off) and so my muscles are sore and hanging on to water.

But that's okay!  I'm not letting the scale mess with my head.  Like I said last week, it all evens out in the end.

02.10.20 Health Check-In

Loss this week:  -3.0
January 2020 loss:  -2.7
February 2020 loss:  -4.0

Total 2019 Weight Loss:  38.3
Total 2020 Weight Loss:    6.7

TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS:       -45

I was out of town Thursday - Tuesday.  I weighed myself at my mom's on Monday morning.

My large loss is all because I got sick and didn't eat for 48 hours and was (and still kind of am) COMPLETELY dehydrated.  I'm working on re-hydrating myself this week.  So maybe I'll have a gain next week.  But that's totally okay!  It all evens out in the end.

02.02.20 Health Check-In

Loss this week:  -1.0
January 2020 loss:  -2.7
February 2020 loss:  -1.0

Total 2019 Weight Loss:  38.3
Total 2020 Weight Loss:    3.7

TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS:       -42

Lots of thoughts this week.  Yes, I had a loss.  Yes, that's better than a gain.  But I have GOT to start doing better.  I am disappointed that I only lost 2.7 in January.  I see a pattern here that I want to change:

August 2019:         -11.2
September 2019:   -9.1
October 2019:       -6.8
November 2019:    -6.9
December 2019:    -4.3
January 2020:        -2.7

My weight loss each month is declining.  I'd like to get back to losing at least 6 pounds a month.

I totally think this is possible.  The problem is not my metabolism, my age, my water retention, etc.  It is ME.  I haven't been tracking honestly, and sometimes I'll skip tracking all together.  Obviously, that isn't working.  I know my body is capable of losing more weight than 2.7 pounds a month.  I don't think it's unrealistic to set a goal of 6 pounds a month.  That's 1.5 per week.  I would be thrilled with that.

So no more dishonest tracking.  No more 'free Sundays'.  No more excuses!!!
